Neurotoxin Education:

What to Know Before Booking

Neurotoxins, commonly known as Botox, are injectable wrinkle relaxers used to temporarily soften expression lines caused by repeated facial movement. These treatments work by relaxing targeted facial muscles so lines may appear smoother while still allowing a natural, refreshed look when treatment is planned conservatively.

Botox vs. Neurotoxin: What’s the Difference?

“Botox” is the name many people use when referring to wrinkle relaxer injections, but Botox is actually one brand of neurotoxin. Other neurotoxin products may also be used in aesthetic medicine. Your provider will review which product is being used, what areas may be appropriate, and what to expect before treatment.

Dynamic Lines vs. Static Lines

Neurotoxins work best on dynamic lines, which are lines caused by repeated movement such as frowning, raising the brows, squinting, or smiling. These may include forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

Static lines are lines that remain visible even when the face is relaxed. These may soften with neurotoxin treatment, but they may not fully disappear, especially if they are deeper or long-standing. Your consultation helps determine what results are realistic for your skin, movement, and goals.

When Results Start and How Long They Last

Neurotoxin results are not immediate. Many clients begin to notice softening within several days, with full results commonly developing around 1–2 weeks. Results are temporary and often last approximately 3–4 months, although this can vary based on dose, treatment area, muscle strength, metabolism, product used, and individual response.

Why a Consultation Is Required

D’NuVi requires a virtual consultation before neurotoxin treatment to review your goals, health history, medications, allergies, prior treatment history, facial movement concerns, and possible contraindications. If you are cleared, your injection appointment will be scheduled separately.

The consultation helps determine whether treatment is appropriate, which areas may be recommended, and how many units may be needed.

Safety Matters

Neurotoxin treatment should be performed by an appropriately trained and licensed medical professional using properly sourced products. The FDA has warned consumers about counterfeit and unapproved botulinum toxin products being sold online and has advised receiving these injections only from licensed professionals. Neurotoxin products also carry safety warnings because effects can rarely spread beyond the injection site and cause serious symptoms such as trouble swallowing or breathing.

D’NuVi’s Approach

D’NuVi’s approach is conservative, personalized, and focused on helping you look refreshed — not frozen. The goal is to soften expression lines while preserving appropriate facial movement and maintaining a natural appearance.

Natural Results Philosophy

Refreshed, Not Frozen

D’NuVi’s neurotoxin approach is conservative, personalized, and focused on natural-looking results. The goal is not to change your face, it is to soften the lines that may make you look tired, tense, or less rested than you feel.

Who May Not Be a Candidate

Neurotoxin treatment may not be appropriate if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • have certain neuromuscular conditions

  • have an active skin infection near the treatment area

  • have a history of allergy or reaction to neurotoxin products

  • have certain medical conditions requiring clearance

  • are taking medications or have health concerns that increase risk

  • are seeking results that are not appropriate or realistic

D’NuVi may decline or delay treatment if it is not clinically appropriate.

Results and Expectations

Results are temporary and vary by person. Many clients begin to notice softening within several days, with full effect commonly seen around 1–2 weeks. Results often last approximately 3–4 months, though duration varies based on dose, treatment area, muscle strength, metabolism, product used, and individual response.
